Job Description
The successful candidate will report to the Director, Tax and will manage and administer all Newmont Ghana tax matters, ensure satisfactory level of tax compliance in accordance with Newmont policies for income taxes; Ghana statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Oversees the Ghana income tax compliance process and ensure accurate filing of statutory returns within the statutory deadlines
- Proactively interpret tax legislation and assist the Director of Tax on assessing and communicating its impacts
- Determine non-allowable deductions for corporate income tax returns purposes and maintain a schedule thereof, and keep supporting documentation for the schedule details
- Prepare monthly tax provision entries for Newmont Ghana entities as dedicated by monthly reporting time tables
Required Skills or Experience
- A degree in accounting, taxation, commerce or qualified professional accountant
- 5 years minimum relevant accounting/taxation experience in public accounting or in multinational entity, Mining or natural resources experience is an advantage
- High level of technical knowledge of taxation and accounting concepts and principles
- Membership of Ghana Institute of Taxation is desirable
- Strong technical knowledge of the Internal Revenue Act (ACT 592); Ghana VAT Act (ACT 546) and amendment thereof
