Job Description
Purpose of the position:
The Engineering Department is seeking to employ the services of a dedicated, experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of a Superintendent to be in charge of its Excavator and Dozer Maintenance.
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the application of Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) maintenance management systems, processes, policies and resources provided, to meet the short-term demands of the company. The incumbent will further ensure that best principles are practiced in a responsible and safe manner, with quality and quantity of work as priority.

- Ensuring the achievement of high equipment availability within industry standards
- Complying with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001; ensuring high health, safety and environmental standards
- Ensuring that Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) are maintained in line with operational requirements and objectives
- Generating requisitions in optimum requirements periodically
- Ensuring that safety and environmental standards are established and sustained
- Implementing effective cost management and financial performance monitoring systems
- Establishing and maintaining high performance and cohesive teamwork
- Maintaining a safe and friendly working environment
- Ensuring that relevant HME staff are effectively trained, developed, and supervised
- Developing and implementing effective maintenance standards and procedures
- Develops and mentors Mineral Resources Department staff towards industry best practices
- Ensures and promotes teamwork, cohesion as well as safe and healthy work practices and environment
Required Skills or Experience
- A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution
- A minimum of five (5) years experience in Caterpillar, Bucyrus and Liehberr (excavator) Heavy Mining Equipment maintenance
- Experienced in safe lifting practices
- Should have experienced in Lean 6 Sigma and knowledge in Systems Application Product (SAP)
- A high sense of thinking analytically
- Should posses a good Business Acumen
- Good interpersonal skills and Communication skills
- Experience in the management of exploration programs
- Qualify as a Competent Person, as defined by SAMREC and SEC Guidelines
- Well-developed verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact with people of diverse background
- Evidence of proven leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Medical certificate of fitness for the position and environment
