CHRISTIAN AID LATEST JOB VACANCY IN GHANA: RECRUITMENT FOR Programme Officer, Governance (CAREERS IN GHANA 2011)

Job Description
1 year fixed term contract with possibility of renewal
Based: Accra with extensive travel in country

A three year European Union funded governance programme with start in October 2011, working across 18 districts in Ghana. Christian Aid (CA) requires a Programme Officer (PO) to provide technical support, monitoring and programmes. He/she will ensure that implementation, monitoring and programme reporting are carried out in accordance with CA and donor requirements.
  • The PO will be responsible for results based monitoring and documentation of change and the sharing of best practice amongst partners and work as part of a dynamic programme team contributing to the achievement of the Ghana programme goals. The post-holder will be required to spend up to 30% of their time outside Accra
  • The post-holder will also support the Christian Aid Ghana team to manage contracts and partnerships, ensure the effective disbursement of funds and contribute to proposal development and fundraising. This includes providing capacity development support to partners in the area of organsational development, governance, policy and advocacy, in line with CA standards
Required Skills or Experience
  • Candidates must be educated to at least degree level in a development, related discipline, preferably on social science, governance or public policy, and have at least 5 years experience of supporting advocacy and governance work at local level
  • Experience of contract management, budget management, proposal development as well as providing support to NGOs/community based organisations in governance programming is essential
  • Technical knowledge of taxation, youth policies and action orientated research and learning would be an advantage, as would experience of managing EU-funded contracts
  • The candidate should have a valid drivers' license, strong writing skills and be computer literate

Attention to detail:
Describe a multi-faceted project that you worked on or a complex report you wrote. What quality control or review mechanism did you put in place? What feedback did you receive from others? How did you incorporate that feedback into the final product? To what extent did this process improve the final product?
