The successful candidate will report to the Senior Chief Geologist and will participate fully in technical geology in addition to any supervisory responsibilities, including geologic/pit mapping, drill core or chip logging, drill hole planning, drill program execution, computer deposit modeling, hydrologic and metallurgical investigations etc
Provide training and growth opportunities in ore control model and production geology
Provide to direct reports objectives, evaluate performance and provide verbal and written feedback on career growth
Develop a technically competent and credible team
Prepare and manage cost tracking of budget for the department
Effectively communicate Mine Geology Team’s mission to the mining and other departments through presentations
Contribute to the evaluation of exploration development or acquisition opportunities in significant area of exploration activity in a mine operation

Required Skills or Experience
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Geology or related field with knowledge of geological principles
Must have a minimum of 6 to 8 years of industry experience in a mining or exploration environment
Some or all of the industry experience can be substituted for additional graduate studies, e.g. an MSc in the case of the research position
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
