Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
To support and accompany Ghanaian organisations in policy research to plan and deliver targeted and effective advocacy on agriculture and health, particularly shea, food security and economic justice campaign, universal access to health campaign in Ghana as well as fundraising for the programmes in line with the national change strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with programme team and partners to conduct relevant political, economic and social research
Plan and coordinate research to support advocacy on focus issues
Be the main in-country resource for producing policy and advocacy messages,
Generate policy papers and lobby briefs
Manage relationships with lobby targets,
Maintain ongoing knowledge, understanding and analysis of relevant government and donor policy and practice and civil society campaign initiatives in Ghana,
Identify the research capacity gaps of advocacy partners and allies,
Facilitate Oxfam’s engagement with the media in Ghana
Beef up Oxfam’s engagement and profile at national level
Develop, implement, monitor and report on agreed work plans,
Collaborate with the programme team to develop new programmes and fundraise
Ensure that all advocacy clearly articulate gender perspectives
Required Skills or Experience

Demonstrable ability to work as part of a fast –paced, interdisciplinary team(E)
Understanding of national and local government and public policy making (E)
Demonstrable skills and experience in participatory research methodologies
An understanding of how to use policy analysis, research, lobbying, public campaigning, media, communications and alliance-building (E)
Strong written and verbal communications skills and experience of planning, conducting or commissioning research. (E)
Proven experience of engaging with and influencing decision-makers, (E)
An understanding of Ghanaian campaigns, movements and civil society organisations, (E)
A drive to achieve results; a high level of personal energy and pro-activity, demonstrated by concrete examples of achievement and initiative taken in previous roles (E)
Significant experience of working in partnership with grassroots civil society organisations, national and international NGOs and networks and development agencies; understanding of how to accompany and build the capacity of partner organisations. (E)
Technical knowledge of development policy in Ghana (D)
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills and proven experience of research and strategy development. (E)
Thorough understanding of and active commitment to promoting gender equity issues and the interests of marginalised people in all advocacy work. (E)
Excellent inter personal and team skills and a proven ability to build good relations both internally and externally
( E)
Ability to manage complex workloads and deliver outputs and reports to agreed deadlines. (E)
Programme development expertise and demonstrable experience in fundraising for advocacy work(E)
