Job Description:
The successful candidate will report to the Health, Safety and Loss Prevention Manager  and will be responsible to carry out the requirements of the Integrated and Health Safety and Loss Prevention Management Systems for the Ahafo operations

Develop and administer Newmont programs to prevent accidents/incidents and loss at Ahafo and work with other site departments to reduce the incidence of accidents at the Site
Manage the weekly, monthly and yearly HSLP internal and external reporting processes and develop monitoring and measurement criteria for HSLP competency in line off progression
Manage the activities of the HSLP Co-ordinators to ensure that an appropriate HSLP service is in place, including inspections, safety meetings, and safety behavior programs
Provide advice to department managers about hazard identification, risk management, safety rules and regulations, trends and statistics and legal compliance
Participate in hazard identification and risk assessment activities and manage the HSLP Hazard Register for the Site and Legal Compliance Register

Required Skills or Experience
A Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Health, Safety and Loss Prevention, Risk Management or a related engineering discipline
Minimum 7-8 years’ experience in working in the health and safety field in an extractive industry. Two years or more of management experience is desireable
Thorough understanding of Safety Management Systems including OHSAS 18001 and sound knowledge of risk management and loss prevention processes with auditing qualifications
Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislative requirements, accident/incident investigation experience
Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group, possess strong presentation, organizational and communication skills and competent in MS Office software
